Nov 4, Lausanne, Switzerland – During the just finished ISF Gymnasiade – Bahrain 2024, Shaun Hamilton, President of the International Jump Rope Union (IJRU), met with Hasnae El Ayoubi, Executive Director of the International School Sport Federation (ISF), to explore an important collaboration aimed at enhancing the role of jump rope in school sports worldwide. Their shared goal is to expand the presence of jump rope within school-based physical education, promoting both sports development and health on a global scale.
As one of the most widely practiced physical activities, jump rope holds a unique position in promoting fitness; however, it is not yet represented in international school sports. To address this, the IJRU will join ISF events to feature international school jump rope competitions and demonstrations. This collaboration aims to raise the profile of jump rope as a recognized school sport and promote its integration into sports programs across schools worldwide.
A key aspect of this collaboration is the creation of educational programs that teach fundamental jump rope skills to improve students' physical fitness, while also highlighting the mental and social benefits of active sports participation. The IJRU and ISF aim to engage young athletes in meaningful ways by organizing jump rope workshops, events, and activities that foster youth development, with the goal of inspiring a lifelong commitment to fitness.
Additionally, both organizations are committed to sharing resources, expertise, and best practices to elevate the quality of event management, coaching, and officiating. This exchange will help ensure that high standards are maintained across both organizations, enhancing the impact of their programs and expanding the reach of school sports globally.
This collaboration represents a significant step forward in global sports education, uniting students worldwide through fitness, skill-building, and the inclusive nature of jump rope. The IJRU and ISF look forward to working together to create a healthier, more active generation through the power of school sports.

The next few months will be a very exciting time in our sport. Many International, national and local jump rope competitions are about to get underway. Additionally, IJRU leaders are diligently working to complete the “Event Approval Process (EAP)”. We wanted to ensure if a world record was broken, it would be properly recognized and honored while the EAP is still in development. We have decided to offer an “Interim Event Approval” from June – August 2024 at no cost to the NGBs.
To be eligible for this Interim Event Approval so world records can be accepted, the following conditions will need to apply:
The NGB must be in good standing and/or the event approved by the NGB.
IJRU IP system will need to be used for the event (specifically the scoring system component).
The event competed must be in current IJRU rulebook (v3.0.0). Please note that the DDC is not yet part of the IJRU rulebook, so no records can be applied for DDC.
Complete the Interim Event Approval Application
If you want your national, state or region event to receive an Interim Event Approval, this form needs to be filled in as well as apply for the IP system usage.
Note that this is for events during the summer period. Events after August will go through the full EAP.
To register a World Record, the World Record Policy will need be followed. Please see the World Record Policy and the IJRU World Records Page.
IJRU needs your help and feedback to improve our sport. As a valued member of our community, your opinions and experiences are incredibly important to us. IJRU, along with the French Federation of Double Dutch (Official NGB of IJRU), are happy to invite you to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games via key engagements during the games. Below is a brief description of the opportunities to participate and represent the sport of jump rope on a global stage.
The International Jump Rope Union (IJRU) is pleased to announce the sponsorship of Yuedong Sports in launching the IJRU Judge Infrastructure Initiative. The inaugural symposium took place 13 – 16 December 2023 in Shanghai, China. With the financial support of Yuedong, IJRU judging experts gathered to discuss and present key aspects of judge training, evaluation, and selection. Throughout the symposium distinguished IJRU officials from across the globe delivered a series of presentations, sharing their insights on judge selection, analysis, and training. The symposium also featured work sessions geared towards identifying solutions for progress in the sport. This initiative is sponsored with a generous contribution over five years from Yuedong Sports. This will also enable IJRU to systemically ensure greater judging accuracy and a positive judging culture for the sport of Jump Rope. The initiative was led by 6-time World Champion Dr. Kaylee Woodard, PhD. Dr. Woodard is a professor of motor learning and exercise science. IJRU will continue to work diligently with jump rope judging experts, IJRU NGBs and Continental organizations around the world to ensure our judges are adequately evaluated, trained and selected to do their best for our athletes.
Additionally, this symposium marked the first "Everybody Jump" Asia partner with Yuedong sport agreeing to be a partner. The “Everybody Jump” initiative is aimed at facilitating universal access and opportunities to participate in jump rope at all levels. IJRU introduced the “Everybody Jump” initiative at the 2023 World Championship (WC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. At the 2023 WC, Elite Jumps (Elite SRS) supplied $10,000 USD of ropes that were distributed throughout the world to encourage more people to jump rope. Yuedong has come on board to further this initiative. Elite Jumps’ and Yuedong’ s non – exclusive partnership allows for additional partners in Asia and around the world to join IJRU in the effort to allow more people, young and old, to participate in jump rope. “Everybody Jump” currently consists of two focus areas: access to jump rope equipment and jump rope programming. IJRU will establish a global committee to further develop and explore these focus areas, and we welcome all who wish to join us in this effort.
